Bee Happy! It’s Honey Harvesting Time at Colvin Run Mill

From the Fairfax County Park Authority:

Beekeepers will demonstrate their honey harvesting expertise at Colvin Run Mill Historic Site from 2 to 4 p .m. on Sunday, October 10, 2010. Watch them as they brave the buzzing bees to retrieve sweet, sticky honey from the apiary. Afterward, sample honey on fresh cornbread made from grains ground on-site. Learn some honey history and take home a bag of fresh cornmeal and a recipe. The cost is $2 per person. Come catch the buzz!

Colvin Run Mill is home to an award-winning operational 19th century water-powered gristmill. The Fairfax County Park Authority historic site offers recreational and educational activities for all ages through daily tours, school programs and special events.

Colvin Run Mill is located at 10017 Colvin Run Road in Great Falls.  For more information, please call the mill at 703-759-2771 or visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/crm.
