EOD Warriors Hold 2017 EOD Undefeated Long Distance Bicycle Ride to Benefit Bomb Disposal Techs

Cycling enthusiasts can choose a ride to raise money for the mission of helping EOD Warriors

On Saturday October 7, 2017 the annual EOD Undefeated Bike Ride will kick off at locations around the country, benefitting the EOD Warrior Foundation. The annual fundraiser will offer various ride distances, some spanning two days and over 150 miles, giving cyclists various rides to choose from, while supporting a great cause. Ride participants include wounded EOD warriors, active duty military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technicians, veterans and civilians.  All funds raised from the event go to support the EOD Warrior Foundation’s mission to improve the quality of life for the EOD family by providing financial relief, scholarship opportunities, physical, social, and emotional support.

The training and technology for future joint forces – along with the experiences of those wounded during their service – are the focus of the 2017 Global Explosive Ordnance Disposal Symposium and Exhibition, taking place Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 8 and 9, at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, North Bethesda, MD.

The National Defense Industrial Association produces this event in partnership with the EOD Warrior Foundation. This year’s event looks at “realigning the EOD force of the future,” including ways to effectively deter threats while protecting the warfighter as much as possible.

Beside military, attendees also include first responders and relevant professionals from federal agencies. More than 50 exhibitors will be set up at the symposium, which also will feature:

Those who would like a way to help the many explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) military members and their families can lace up their running shoes this month. The EOD Warrior Foundation will be the beneficiary of a 5K and Half Marathon on June 25, 2017 in Georgetown, Washington, DC. The 2nd annual event will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at SAPT Strength & Performance Training, Inc., located at 3160 Spring St., E-F, Fairfax, Virginia.  The open gym event will last through all of the daylight hours on that day, where participants can take part in the free training being offered.

“Last year, we raised around $5,500 for charity and we had a great time doing it,” explains Sarah Walls, personal trainer and owner of SAPT Strength & Performance Training, Inc., who is also the strength and conditioning coach for WNBA’s Washington Mystics. “We hope to raise even more this year and give people a great workout while we are at it.”
