Ken Falke Makes HillVets 100 List and Boulder Crest Retreat Wins Nonprofit of the Year Aw

Boulder Crest Retreat announces Founder and Chairman, Ken Falke on the HillVets 100 list for 2016, and the Retreat is recognized as the Nonprofit of the Year Award for innovation in the mental healthcare area. This is the second annual HillVets 100 event.  HillVets chooses from a pool of veterans’ nationwide and 100 people make the distinguished list of those making a significant difference in the lives of our nations' veterans.

“I am personally honored and humbled to make this very prestigious list and more honored by the selection of the Retreat as the best nonprofit of the year,” explains Ken Falke, chairman and founder of the Boulder Crest Retreat. “Our mission is to change the way our country deals with veterans with combat stress and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and I know our PATHH program is leading this change.”

Alumni of BASIS.ed reunited this week at Tysons Sheraton Premiere to meet and greet potential students of Tysons Corner’s first pre K-12th grade school, BASIS Independent McLean. BASIS.ed alumni students came from Yale University, Princeton University, Cornell University, Brown University, Duke University and more. School registration is underway for Tyson Corner’s new school, BASIS Independent McLean. The school will be located at 8000 Jones Branch Drive in McLean, Va.

“It was exciting to see so many of our graduates, and hear about their successful experiences at college,” said Sean Aiken, head of school of BASIS Independent McLean, Va.

METRO SCHOOL of the ARTS YOUTH TAP ENSEMBLE PERFORMS for BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION at NOVA

Metropolitan Youth Tap Ensemble of Metropolitan School of the Arts in Alexandria, Va. recently performed for the Black History Month Celebration by Music at NOVA at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center in Alexandria, Va.  Other entertainment included:  poetry, Martin Luther King, Jr. excerpts, NOVA Jazz Ensemble, NOVA Community Chorus and more. Boulder Crest Retreat announces its upcoming events to support its mission and ongoing programs. The Retreat is the nation’s first privately funded wellness center dedicated exclusively to combat veterans and their families. Their mission is to help veterans and their families’ transition into civilian life by providing them with an intensive therapeutic stay that focuses primarily on the concepts of post-traumatic growth. The retreat’s programs have been hailed by experts and well received by those who have stayed and been helped.

Lt. Col. Oliver North to Speak at EOD Warrior Foundation Annual Ball

On Saturday, May 7, 2016, The joint service Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) community will hold their 48th annual EOD Ball at the Emerald Coast Convention Center, at 1250 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. This year's keynote speaker is LtCol Oliver North, USMC (Ret).  Tickets to the ball are $75 each and can be purchased online at www.eodwarriorfoundation.org.

The EOD Ball on Saturday night is the main event after a week full of very emotional ceremonies for this elite group of military bomb disposal professionals. These events include a golf tournament Friday morning at Eglin AFB, a live Auction on Friday evening at the same location as the Ball and the EOD Memorial Ceremony at Eglin Air Force Base Saturday morning.  The EOD events benefit the EOD Warrior Foundation, the nonprofit that supports and disarms challenges for the EOD Family.
