According to History.com, the earliest recorded New Year’s celebration goes back 4,000 years to ancient Babylon. Centuries later, we still ring in the New Year with parties and festivities. This year, Medium Rare invites all families and friends to their own unique New Year’s party. On New Year’s Day 2015, Medium Rare will be open for business, hosting the 2nd Annual Bottomless “Pajama Brunch” at both Washington, DC locations.

“New Year’s Day is a great time for taking stock in your life and investing in a new you. Why not start off the year with great brunch, meaningful company and some bottomless drinks?” says Mark Bucher, co-owner of Medium Rare, with two locations in Washington, DC. “Most people stay up late to ring in the New Year. Appetizer selections include: Brick-oven Oysters Rockefeller, Spitada de Camarao, Mini-Beef Wellingtons, Risotto Fritters and Calamari Fritti, as well as two soups, Lobster Bisque and Roasted Butternut Squash.

They may be called french fries, but Americans consume around 2 million tons of them per year. Whether dipped in ketchup, covered in chili and cheese, or served up another way, we just can’t get enough of them. Most of the time people are dining on french fries from restaurants or frozen ones, but for those who want to make their own at home Medium Rare is dishing up the tips on how to make them perfect.

“The perfect fry is really a labor of patience and love,” explains Mark Bucher, co-owner of Medium Rare, with two locations in the D.C. area. “From finding the perfect potato, to the cutting, soaking, drying, blanching, then overnight refrigeration, before the last fry, the process takes will take over 24 hours, just for a french fry.”
