6 Must Have Exercises to be Fit and Fabulous this Summer

Summer is a time of the year when more people are motivated to get active. The sun is out, the weather is inviting, and people are feeling up to staying active. Yet most people don’t know how much exercise they should be getting or which ones are going to help them look and feel their best. The National Institutes of Health reports that children and youth should get 60 minutes of physical activity per day, while adults should aim to get 150 minutes per week of moderate intensity exercise, or 75 minutes per week of vigorous intensity exercise. For most people, if they can remember to get 30 minutes of exercise five days per week, they will be well ahead of the game.

EOD Warrior Foundation to Hold Warrior 5K and Half Marathon

EOD Warrior Foundation will be holding a run near the nation’s capital to help raise funds to further their mission of helping EOD warriors

Those who would like a way to help the many explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) military members and their families can lace up their running shoes this month. The EOD Warrior Foundation will be the beneficiary of a 5K and Half Marathon on June 25, 2017 in Georgetown, Washington, DC. The race organizers, Bishops Events, have generously offered to make the EOD Warrior Foundation the beneficiary of these great events.  Funds raised from the races will support the mission of helping EOD warriors and their families in need.

“Participating in a fundraising walk or run is a great way to make a positive impact supporting a cause you are passionate about,” explains Nicole Motsek, executive director of the EOD Warrior Foundation. “This is going to be a great event, and it’s for a great cause.”

Veterans Day is November 11th and this day makes for a great time to consider how individuals, groups, businesses, and gyms can get involved and show their support for our nation’s veterans. While it’s estimated that there are over 19 million veterans in the country, there is one elite group of veterans in need of your support, because they have the most dangerous job in the military. This group is EOD or explosive ordnance disposal, or to many, bomb disposal. This Veterans Day, you can join a movement, and use your work out as a way to support these important members of our military.

New Laws Ban Headphones for Bicyclists, What You Need to Know

Bicycling is a sport that millions of people of all ages engage in across the country. Additionally, there are many people who run on a regular basis. What many of these people who cycle and run may not realize is that there are new laws on the horizon regarding whether or not they can wear headphones as they are engaging in these activities.

“People often go out and bicycle with headphones on or get into a marathon and wear headphones as they run,” explains Richard “Big Rich” Bracke, founder of BiGR Audio, a company that makes specialty headphones and innovative Bluetooth wrist speakers. “It’s important that people know the laws regarding this issue and that they take precautions.”

Eitan Kramer is a personal trainer and former pro action sports athlete who has developed MorfBoard, a new fitness system that fuses the passion that action sports athletes have with traditional workout methods designed to make working out fun.

“The two biggest excuses people have for not exercising are a lack of time and they don’t enjoy it,” explains Eitan Kramer, the inventor and CEO of MorfBoard.

5 Reasons Every Golfer Needs Sun Sleeves

According to the National Golf Foundation, 29 million Americans play golf. That puts a lot of people outdoors for each game that they play, and if they want to get good at the game they are playing more than one round per year. What many of these golfers may not realize is the increased risk for skin cancer they have by being avid golfers. Skin cancer, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation, is the most common form of cancer in the country, with 2 million people being diagnosed with it each year.

“Playing golf is great, but many don’t realize that it’s typically played in the sun,” explains Elise Champe, owner of Eclipse Sun Products. “All that sun exposure can really do some damage. It’s important to know the risks and what can be done to minimize them while enjoying the game.”

Here are 5 reasons every golfer needs sun sleeves:
