Respect Red Enforcement Set to Begin

The City of Fairfax Police Department is reminding residents and commuters traveling through the city that photo red light enforcement warning notices will end July 31, and that enforcement of violations will officially begin starting August 1. Affected intersections include University Drive at North Street and Fairfax Circle.

Weekend closure of Monument Drive at Fairfax County Parkway

From 7 a.m. Saturday, June 4 until 5 a.m. Monday, June 6, Monument Drive at the Fairfax County Parkway will be closed while crews install a 30-inch storm drain pipe across Monument Drive.  A detour will be posted directing traffic as follows:

Route 7100 traffic wanting to access Monument Drive will be detoured onto Fair Lakes Parkway.  From Fair Lakes Parkway, turn left onto West Ox Road and left onto Monument Drive.

Traffic coming from Fields Bridge Road and Fair Ridge Drive wanting to go west on Monument to Route 7100 will be directed to turn right on Monument Drive, turn right on West Ox Road and right on Fair Lakes Parkway to Route 7100.

Traffic coming from Marley Garden Lane, Fields Bridge Road, Fair Ridge Drive, Monument Court and Vernoy Hills Road wanting to access Route 7100 will be directed to turn left on Monument, right on West Ox Road, right on Fair Lakes Parkway to Route 7100.

The Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office is sponsoring a new program called “Safety Seat Saturday.” In an effort to better serve the needs of the community, the Sheriff’s Office will be holding a child safety seat installation and inspection on one Saturday each month.  The first “Safety Seat Saturday” event is scheduled for Saturday, June 25, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fairfax County Public Safety Center – Public Parking Garage located at 10550 Page Avenue in Fairfax.  This service is free and no appointment is necessary. Just bring your vehicle and safety seat. If your kid (s) is available, bring him or her too.

City of Fairfax Police are reminding residents and commuters that the annual Ride of the Patriots sponsored by Patriot Harley Davidson will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2011. The event consisting of motorcyclists riding in formation as part of the Memorial Day observances will begin at 7:00 AM when participants will be allowed to begin staging on Fairfax Boulevard.
