Michael W. Wynne served as the 21st Secretary of the Air Force, being in office from November 2005 – June 2008. Now, he’s taking on a new role in continuing to defend our country and protect our principals, by focusing on the country’s military combat veterans and their family members. Boulder Crest Retreat for Military Veteran Wellness announces that Michael Wynne has joined their honorary advisory board.

“I am honored by the involvement of our Honorary Advisory Board and the addition of Secretary Wynne,” says Ken Falke, chairman and founder of Boulder Crest Retreat.  “Secretary Wynne is a futuristic thinker and innovator and will be very helpful to our team as we continue to innovate in our posttraumatic growth programming, I cannot think of better experience to be able to draw from. It makes me very happy to add Secretary Wynne to our very prestigious advisory board.”

Prior to his Secretary of the Air Force confirmation, Mr. Wynne served as Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, and Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics. In these positions he was the principal adviser to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense for all matters relating to acquisition, research and development, and logistics management.

Before entering public service, Mr. Wynne was involved in venture capital, nurturing small technology companies through their start-up phase as a member of the NextGenFund Executive Committee. He also served in executive positions within two companies. These companies were in the field of Travel (IXATA), and Logistics (Extended Reach Logistics).

Secretary Wynne joins the Honorary Advisory board next to: former Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel, Secretary of the Navy, John Lehman, two former Chairman’s of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General (retired) Henry ‘Hugh’ Shelton, USA, General (retired) Peter Pace, USMC, Admiral (retired) William Fallon, USN, General (retired) Norton Schwartz, former NFL star and Vietnam veteran, Rocky Bleier and Medal of Honor recipient and Master Sergeant (ret) Leroy Petry.

Boulder Crest Retreat for Military and Veteran Wellness is a rural sanctuary that provides free accommodations, recreational, and therapeutic activities and programs to help our nation’s military and veteran personnel and their families recover and reconnect during their long journey of healing from physical and invisible wounds of war. The 37-acre retreat is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Bluemont, Virginia, just 50 miles west of Washington, D.C.
